My Predictions for the 2012 Oscars

It’s that time again everybody!

If you have checked the internet, let alone even turned on your computer within the past week or so, you’ve probably realized that there is a lot of these predictions and thoughts going down on the Oscars for this year. So for every year, I give my predictions on who I think is going to win, who should win, and who surprisingly could pull one off, if the Academy feels like really shocking the hell out of people. However knowing the Academy, that never happens. But enough of my talking, here’s what I think may go down:

There ya have it folks. Once again, another year of film-watching, thus another year of staying up late and watching an Awards show that has no meaning but still has me finding the closest television possible just so I can catch a glimpse of it. It’s definitely a lot more predictable this year around, but hey, it’s all fun and games and there’s even some Billy Crystal to watch this year as well. I hope you liked my picks, and if not say something about it in the comments section so we can duke it out verbally. As always, have a great time watching the show and hopefully they don’t do that stupid dance routine for the Best Original Score category…

Peace!!

Very nice write-up. I love and 100% agree with your position on “The Tree of Life”. But I believe the Best Actor award is between Clooney and Jean Dujardins. That doesn’t quite sell as well as Clooney vs Pitt but Dujardins could win. I also think Hazanavicius wins Best Director over Scorsese. But we shall see.

    Fun read as always!

Great predictions. We’ll find out soon which ones are right!

So The Artist wins everywhere. It’s currently #5 in my top 10,
so I’m not complaining much. I picked Hugo and Scorsese but it’s absolutely fantastic that Malick wins here ^^..LOL

Jean Dujardin will win Best Actor easily, Brad Pitt shouldn’t win :-S I don’t think Hugo will win half of those awards, I think The Tree of Life will pick up Cinematography, I don’t think it will either of the Sound awards either, nor do I think Scorsese will win Best Director – I think it will go to Hazanavicius.

Nice predictions, Dan! Definitely some different ones I didn’t expect – no thought of Jean Dujardin winning Best Actor? I’m definitely with you on Tree of Life winning Cinematography.

I still think Jonah Hill for Best Supporting Actor hahahaha. I’m still pissed about Drive getting no recognition! I think your right on The Artist winning even though I would love to see Hugo take it. Scorcese for best director all the way! Nice predictions. And I’m going for War Horse for cinematography.

Hi Dan, I liked the Tree of Life too but I thought some of the other movies that arrived later in the year were better. Overall, I was pleased with the choices of the Oscars, notably that Hollywood chose to give Hugo only technical awards. Could it be reacting to (and rejecting) the drive to 3D?
