‘My Life as a Zucchini’ winning Best Animated Film will be completely out of left field but i’d rather that film i had never heard of winning over ‘Zootopia’ tbh haha
You’re not alone! I totally found Naomi Harris’ performance overcooked. And I’ve read that she was hesitant to take any roles that fall into stereotypes, like her role in Moonlight, but Jenkins convinced her to take it. She should’ve trusted her gut.
Wow, good predictions! I hope for next year PGA and The Oscars will make a tribute for late director John Avildsen. For all his accomplishments on Rocky and The Karate Kid. John did not have a huge budget for both movies and yet both are well known worldwide. Even today fans are still visiting the filming sites of KK in San Fernando Valley. Not bad for a movie that did not have millions in budget but got Pat Morita an Oscar! I think Hollywood today relies too much on CGI (Disney Studios spending over $200 million on Lone Ranger and not getting that money back…). I wrote a blog about successful franchise for a University course based on the book “The Films of John Avildsen”, like John mentioned once: “for a good movie you need to have a good storyline”: https://blogsandbirds.wordpress.com/2017/05/25/the-karate-kid-a-classic-franchise-from-john-g-avildsen/
