Let Me Take a Minute to Introduce Myself

Hello, hello out there! For all of you who don’t already know this by now, my name is actually Dan, yes, I am a man (if being born in 1993 counts), and yes, I do review movies. Actually, let me correct that in by saying, A LOT of movies. Yeah, I basically started to have no life back in the Summer of 2009, when I decided that it was time for me to combine both of my love for writing and watching movies together and see what I could do with it. At first, it was just a meaningless hobby that gave me an excuse to watch over 3 movies a day and tell my mommy and daddy that it would help me-out in school, but now, it’s practically became a job for yours truly. I’m a movie-nerd, but don’t let that fool you, I haven’t seen every movie known to man. So, if you’re thinking about quizzing me on which movie won Best Picture in 1938, don’t worry, I’m not going to try and slash you away with my movie-knowledge, because I don’t have much to begin with. By the way, the answer to that was The Life of Emile Zola, but trust me, I got lucky with that one.

Anywho, I’m from Philadelphia and I’ve been representing it ever since the day I was born so if you live there, visit there occasionally, or know where it’s placed-at on the map, then cool, let me know. The way you can contact me about anything whether it be pertaining to business ideas, reviews, needing somebody to talk to, movie trivia, or just anything at all, let me know at CMrok93@yahoo.com. I’m a geek when it comes to my e-mail so if you send me one, I will most likely get back to you within the next hour or so. It makes me feel more special that way.

But now that you know me, and for all that I am, I hope you enjoy what you see here on my site and don’t let it get to you that I am still a young whipper snapper seeing all of these dirty, R-rated movies and cursing like a truck-driver, because trust me, I’m not that much of a potty-mouth in real life. I just want people to know that I’m cool because I use curse words to show how serious I am. Aren’t we all like that? Okay, maybe not really but anyway, thanks for checking out my site and if there is anything you ever need to ask me or anything whatsoever, you have the e-mail address so just let me know. Peace out, everybody! Enjoy the foul-mouthed, terribly-written movie reviews!

  2. Hey man I really appreciate your comments on my site. I’ve been checking out your reviews and you have a lot of talent. I couldnt believe you’re only 17. I’ve been writing for a long time (it’s my full-time job) and I’m super impressed. Keep up the good work.

  3. Hi your Blog was so nice. Expecting some more good films review here. I am also a Movie Buff. Wanna like to share my experience about International movies. Cheers πŸ™‚

  4. Nice reviews Dan. Although, we cover mostly music, you can find plenty of film reviews on http://klyam.com/ as you know, having come across my Get Him to the Greek review. An archive of reviews is in the works, but for now just type in “film review” or “film reviews,” in the search bar whenever you get a chance.

  5. Cool Dan, it’s obvious you enjoy movies, and equally as obvious that you enjoy writing. Now that I know where you are online I’ll come check you out more often. Take care . . . .and dope sweater . . .

  6. Hi Dan… thanks for calling in over at The Hell Street Journal. I have read through some of your reviews here and I am very impressed. I love how you seem at ease writing about almost any genre… its just gotta be the sweater. Keep it up.

  7. Thanks for dropping by my blog, I appreciate it very much πŸ™‚ I love your web site and your reviews, and I have added you to our blogroll. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  8. Hi DTM –

Thanks for stopping my site – The Arts. You wrote:

Nice review. Check out mine when you get the chance.
Well here I am Dude. I like the looks of the place. I will add you to my blogroll.

Only you should have actually read my review which said:

Although I had noted on my Coming Attractions page that I would review Battle: Los Angeles, I’ve decided to forego doing so for the time being. Instead of forking over some dead presidents to the AMC Movie Theater chain, I’ll wait until Netflix makes it available.

So you actually complimented my non-review. But you’re forgiven. Kindly return the favor and add me to your blogroll.

  9. You look like such a flaming faggot. Who the hell spends there free time watching movies made over 11 years ago by them selves? Cock shinning losers thats who. Maybe you should step outside of the basement some time you basement dweller

  10. general question: I was going through your reviews and was wondering whether you had rated any movie 10/10 – I tried looking for a tag but couldn’t find any. I did find you 9-9.5/10 reviews xD

  11. Hi, there! Cryptotox here from the Errant Easel. Just wanted to thank you for stopping by and to tell you how much I enjoy your reviews! Best of luck to you and I’ll keep checking back for your updates!

  12. Hey, Dan, appreciate another film buff. What do you think about these films? “Forrest Gump,” “Life Is Beautiful,” and “The Miracle Worker”?
I do think the film “Lorax” is funnier, but I don’t think Dr. Seuss really intended it to be funny, really very serious.
    Have fun!

  13. Hey Dan! Been following for awhile now–love your reviews! Just wanted to let you know that I selected you for a Liebster Blog Award! But I think you may have more than 200 followers–not sure–but I visit your site regularly and wanted to give you a shout out!

  14. “Here we are now, entertain us” as hummed by the barbershop quartet in the Muppets. Enjoy your posts Dan; good stuff.

  15. From what I’ve seen you do a great job reviewing movies. It’s awesome that you’re doing reviews because you genuinely like movies. Love of the medium is a must for a critic. Keep them up.

  16. What part of Philly are you from Dan? I too was born and raised in Philly. I live in S. Jersey now, but I still go back to the old neighborhood for my weekly basketball games.

  17. Thanks for stopping by The Disgruntled Individual, and for leaving kind words. Your reviews are more then worth a read, and to that end, I’m adding you to my blog roll.

Keep up the good work: your fellow cinephiles appreciate it.

  18. Your posts surely do show your passion about movies. I’ve seen you over at cinemawon, where I dwell, and as you may noticed that there have been a number of writers who have just given up.

You have to really love this to keep om doing it, especially in this volume.

My only problems are your reviews are a bit lengthy, which might turn some people away, especially if they just use this to see what kind of movies to watch on Netflix, but also I’ve noticed the lack of a proper archive.

Sure, you do have the collapsable list, but you don’t have one massive, easy to acess tab. This allows people to easily browse past reviews without much effort.

  19. Hey! I really feel honored that you visited my blog. πŸ™‚ And you sure are a movie addict. LOL! will definitely go on reading your reviews. Take care young man! πŸ˜€

  20. Hello Dan! Thanks for dropping by my site and posting. Checking out your gig here, I must say you’re not doing too shabby there! Great site. I’ll definitely put you on my blog roll (whenever I get the chance to figure out to create one!).

  21. Hey Dan,
This is Alene from “When it’s Over” movie reviews. Your blog is very cool. I like how you integrate humor and depth in your reviews. Great work. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving comments.

  22. Dan, thanks for the comment. You have a good blog here. Personally I wish all movie review sites were geared toward mass interest and not dissecting this scene or that one. Come visit mine anytime, feedback is always welcome; http://mahoneyville.com

  23. Excellent blog Dan.
I visited Philadelphia last year with my parents and I had one of those Philly steaks (FYI). It tasted so goooddd. haha LOL.
Keep up the good work, you’re the man! πŸ™‚

  24. Hi, Dan the Man! Thanks for stopping by. Of course your response intrigued me, and so I had to look you up. I have to tell you that I have a son born in 1985 whom I still lovingly call “Dan the Man,” and so of course I immediately felt totally affectionate and motherly toward you. You have a delightful cadence in your writing. Good job! I hope at some point you slow down enough to let what you watch connect with your emotions…not to bring you down or darken your world, but to cause you to reflect on the contrast between dark and light in a way that draws you to choose light! Blessings! πŸ™‚

    • Hello Kathi! I have been reading some of Dan’s reviews and then I came to this page. OMG, he’s right in-between my son and daughter in age so I was like “this kid could be my child” haha- but I’ll still take his movie opinions into consideration. Anyhow, I saw your comment and thought ‘that’s what I was thinking!’

      • Fun! Our kids are all grown up! My Dan the Man is a dentist, and I’ve been doing some volunteer work as a dental assistant for him…so I’m definitely valuing his opinions. The older I get, the more I appreciate of insights of the younger generation!

  25. Great blog, Dan…really enjoyed what I’ve read so far and look forward to digging through the archives. You seem to have taste that’s only slightly different from mine, which is ideal. Nothing worse than seeing your own opinion being repeated back to you all of the time! ‘Course…now and again is nice, though…
